Getting a referral

We are a referral-only Foodbank, but there are many ways to get a referral:

  1. Phone Northumberland Communities Together on 01670620015, email the address given on the Northumberland County Council help page or visit the council Office in Blyth Library. Someone will contact you to discuss your situation and the possibility of a referral.
  2. Ask any professional working with you in a social support or medical role (eg social worker, care staff, social care charities, doctor’s surgery/social prescribers)
  3. If you have school age children ask at their school reception
  4. If you are on probation referrals must come through your probation officer or team
  5. If you are working with NRP referrals must come from NRP
  6. If you are an asylum seeker ask at the asylum-seeker drop-ins at St Cuthberts Church Hall near the quayside in Blyth

If they agree to refer you they will email the referral directly to us and we will phone you to say the referral has arrived and you can collect your parcel from us.

Deliveries are very rare and criteria based so please find a friend, care provider/support worker or relative to collect if you cannot. You would also miss out on the choice of optional extras if you do not collect.

Please include details of your spouse/partner (name and age), children and cats/dogs on your referral as it would cause unnecessary delays if you try to add them when you arrive with us. All of them must live with you at the time the referral covers. Each referral only covers a short period of time and you will need a new referral for the next parcel.
